As we have seen in our readings this semester, there is no single story of American queerness. Instead, we have a long history of overlapping, intersecting experiences and events that have contributed (and continue to contribute) to our current configuration of LGBT identity and politics. Therefore, our timeline is divided into themed “layers” of LGBT History that tell a long and complex story.
